EstufaCEC — Award-Winning University Project

An award-winning university project that transformed a farming game concept into a real-world service idea combining gamification, food production, logistics and low-code software.

Context & approach

EstufaCEC was the winning project of the Laboratório de Sistemas II challenge during the first semester of 2019/2020.

The team worked with Efacec, Do It Lean and OutSystems to transform an online farming game concept into a useful real-life service.

Users could rent space in a greenhouse or vegetable garden, choose what to plant and harvest, follow production in real time through an OutSystems low-code application, and receive harvested products at home.

The project combined software development, market research, business model design, investment analysis, project management and a physical prototype.

Outcomes

  • Won the LSIS II university challenge.
  • Developed an innovative business concept with real industry partners.
  • Built a low-code application concept and physical prototype.
  • Applied software, management, market research, investment analysis and systems engineering knowledge in one project.
